By Kevin Alan Lamb
We close ourselves from the world when we need to be open
I put these words on paper to be sung by those still hoping
For better days and a better way with men and women that say what they mean and mean what the say
It can’t be so hard sing it with me one time
H – o – p – e, for all boys and girls to be born free
H – e – l – p, from blessed people like you and me
C – a – r – e, for depressed souls given the chance to decide what to be
To open your heart you must first open your eyes
One man’s fortune and blue skies do so little for the man damned in thunderstorms who cries
Vision comes with a price
It’s hard to want to save the world and always play nice
It can’t be so hard sing it with me one time
L – o – v – e, for all the boys and girls that never knew it
T – i – m – e, from blessed people to help them get through it
C – a – r – e, for the less fortunate and our commitment to them.
We close ourselves from the world when we need to be open
I put these words on paper to be sung by those still hoping
For better days and a better way with men and women that say what they mean and mean what the say
It can’t be so hard to change the way people think and feel
Most of us don’t know real problems – too busy confusing fiction for what is real
Why is it so hard? Sing it with me one time
H – o – p – e, for all boys and girls to be born free
H – e – l – p, from blessed people like you and me
C – a – r – e, for depressed souls given the chance to one-day decide what to be.
