What it is to weep

By Kevin Alan Lamb

The sun shines, an old man dies

A rose withers, an impoverished nation raises its pillars

Love is found, a family is brought to the ground

A boy dreams, the self-aware man no longer believes

Choices are made, indifference continues to perpetuate pain

Freedom is fled, hope ascends from the dead

A rainbow brightens a day, love gone cold is maintained

Sight is given, a terrible mistake unforgiven

Bones grow tired, the apathetic man inspired

Lips are missed, lovers that no longer kiss

Rain is danced in, she asks him where the romance has been

An elderly man departs in his sleep, a child learns what it is to weep.
