I promise to treat you exactly how I would like to be treated

I promise you a shoulder to cry on, if ever you feel you need it

I promise you will win, no matter how strong the feeling of being defeated

I promise not to rush, take the foot off the gas, no need to speed it

I promise to have your back through all the highs and the lows

I promise to listen when I ask how did your day go

I promise to speak from the heart, not always soft spoken and kind

I promise to be open and honest, share whats truly on my mind

I promise a massage, if you ever need something extra to unwind

I promise to stay in touch, never be too hard to find

I promise to bring you breakfast if you don’t wanna get out of bed

I promise I wont judge whatever crazy thoughts are in your head

I promise if the world is heavy on your shoulders like a backpack full of lead

I promise to help turn the negatives into positives instead

I promise to give more than I take, no addition by subtraction

I promise to try and keep my cool, once you start your first contraction

I promise if you ask to talk, Ill never say OK but make it quick

I promise to always light the fire, like flicking at a bic

I promise to pay attention to the movie, even if it’s a sappy chick flick

I promise if you have a bad dream you can wake me up in the middle of the night

I promise if you wanna fly, ill help you get off the ground, take flight

I promise to be open, to always stay true

I promise not to judge, no matter what you’ve been thru

I promise not to budge when it comes to standing up for you

I promise not to judge, even if you don’t succeed

I promise a little nudge, a hint is all I need

I promise you are safe, to protect you I would bleed

I promise not to neglect, if you are hungry I will feed

I promise to always update the roster, keep you tops on the list

I promise Im not an imposter, like Sprite and Sierra Mist

I promise to grow together, thru acceptance and change

I promise even in snowy weather you could lay out to tan, I wouldn’t think you were strange

I promise to let you in, show you inside my heart

I promise much to your chagrin, I may decide to fart

I promise to make you smile, always keep it light

I promise even after a while, Ill say I love you every night

I promise you can share, no matter what the issues

I promise I don’t care, use my shirt if you’ve run out of tissues

I promise you don’t have to be alone, even if im not around

I promise you Ill answer the phone, end up with a smile after a frown

I promise these words are true, like I am under oath

I promise it’ll always be you and me, me and you, us both

By Dan Hilbert

This one is going out by special request

‘Write something happy, about how great it feels to be blessed’

Life in recovery is incredible, I never would have guessed

Like it is edible, Im really eating it up, there I confessed

The discovery now is inevitable, seeing what’s inside this treasure chest

Screw living crazy, lawless, wild wild west

They say don’t leave five minutes before the miracles occur

It all happened so fast, it was all such a blur

They really do come true, those dreams that reoccur

Taking time to appreciate the little things now, I much prefer

Sitting outside, nice and quite, soaking up the sun

Turned my life over, now I feel like the chosen one

Take a second tonight to go outside, glance up at the moon and the stars

Find someplace peaceful, maybe put on a tune while sitting idle in your car

This attitude is contagious like the common cold

The gratitude is outrageous, might sound a little bold

This dude is courageous, ready to break the mold

It is quite advantageous, listening, doing what Im told

Re-energized, vivacious, my life can now unfold

Thanks to my gracious God, this way of living, I am sold

Every day I wake up feeling like a little boy on Christmas morning

Not living so fast, careful, you only get one warning

It takes hard work, everything given to me Im earning

Got a little taste of the good life, now for more I am yearning

No more time to waste, Light the Fire, lets get the candle burning

Blessed to be paying attention, have good people teaching, I am learning

Living this way every single day is enjoyable

Hired for something I actually went to college for, I am now employable

Never forgetting where I came from, reminded, all this good is quite destroyable

Those big ass missiles of destruction are armed and ready, very deployable

Hadn’t yet found myelf, my identity was concealed

Constantly had my guard up, the drugs were like a shield

Now the blessings are rolling in, can’t wait to see, more will be revealed

Still don’t believe I go to work every day at a professional baseball field

Constantly have that magical feeling in my stomach, like that first kiss

Finding a practical way of dealing with things, it is Pure Bliss

Running around in those circles, I surely don’t miss

That every addict one day discovers this way of life, that is what I wish

Love You Aunt Sha, thanks for the unconditional love + support!!!!!

Im sitting at the airport about to get high

Not off drugs, on a plane, in the sky

Feeling good today, see a twinkle in my eye

Couldn’t be happier, about to explain why

Got overwhelmed last night with a feeling of love

My friends told me they were gonna miss me, kisses and hugs

No longer flying solo, lonesome dove

Attached at the hip with my new pal, like were love bugs

Its been an emotional rollercoaster these past couple years

Not trying to boast, but Im proud of all the tears

Walk into the rooms, everybody knows my name like its Cheers

The bar I go to now, they serve coffee and soda, not beers

I kneel down at night and ask God to give me what I need

Not gonna go hungry, my mouth he will feed

Its actually easy, don’t have to beg and plead

Growing every day, glad I planted the seed

28 years ago this morning at 7:58

February 2nd, 1984, remember the date

I came into this world right on time, not a second late

The path I went down, no coincidence, it was fate

When tears roll down my face today, they won’t be sadness but joy

Slowly transforming into a man, no longer a scared little boy

Ill let you in on a Secret, the Law of Attraction, there’s no chance

I hope it rains today, just so I can go outside and dance

I used to like New York City cuz they had the best dope

Now my intentions are to find the best hope

Don’t have a clue what the next few days will hold, but Im not scared

Im ready for this shit, been well prepared

Learning to love myself, so I may receive the love of another

Can’t wait to hold my baby for the first time sitting there with his mother

Looks like they’re boarding, time to get in line

Feeling GREAT, Just For Today, Im doing just fine

By Dan Hilbert

Gonna share something with you that’s down right conceivable

What Im speaking is the truth, its quite believable

Like Oprah has shown, anything you put your mind to is achievable

No matter how much you’re stressing, your life it is retrievable

Stay open to the blessing, let it in, be receivable

Dr. Nido Qubein says: if you network anyone is reachable

Like a student at High Point University, always remain teachable

If you lean on religion when things get rocky, remain preachable

Try not to get cocky, even the President is impeachable

This disease makes you sick, but don’t think its unbeatable

Bad decisions add up quick, very repeatable

The best thing about addiction, while defiant, its quite treatable

Like the Patriots learned from the Giants, they’re not undefeatable

No matter the past, get it off your mind, nothing is unspeakable

Repetitively I maintain, nothing is unspeakable

Competitively insane, this thinking’s not unreasonable

Feels good living in recovery, the weather is quite seasonable

Sign a contract with yourself, make it unbreachable

Throw the white lies in the wash, they are bleachable

As human beings we are fragile, were quite breakable

Don’t wait until the last breath to find out life is quite takeable

Like basketball, give yourself a shot at life that’s quite makeable

Be true to yourself, living this way is not fakeable

Like Josh Hamilton found out, no goal is unhittable

Some decisions last a lifetime, some actions are unacquittable

But living as addicts, we think just about anything is permissible

Willing to lose it all, just about anything is dismissible

Were crafty at destruction, choosing anything that’s abusable

The excuses we come up with, many are so amusable

Not funny though,we me may be blind to it, many of our actions are inexcusable

Some people don’t even know, needles aren’t reusable

Share with another user, diseases are contractable

Some can be taken care of, others are untreatable

The best admission Ive ever made was my life had become unmanageable

Walked around in a stupor for a while, feeling indestructible

Beat into submission I found I could be hurt, quite damageable

Glad that with this program, my life is reconstructable

Might have the chance to be a family man, like Cliff Huxtable

Many have lost hope, thought they were unlovable

Just go to a meeting, find out you’re very huggable

Thought all hope was leaking out, those holes are very pluggable

Remove that chip off your shoulder, it’s very shruggable

At first this concept might seem incomprehensible

Gotta look at it with an open mind, be sensible

Make yourself accountable, be dependable

You are truly worth it, no ones life is expendable

My life now is truly unbelievable

Thank you for taking the time, I hope this poem was readable

International Society of Exceptional Leaders Official Introduction

Blown away that the most blessed circumstances have presented me with an opportunity to sit down (Skype) with this inspiring organization committed to help, and not hurt, insist hope, versus persisting darkness which only offers guidance as the guided fall to their knees praying to a church that insists they believe yet offers little to combat a world of need. This Is A Good Sign (thanks for the invite)!

This is an official video presenting the International Society of Exceptional Leaders, non-profit leadership network.

Why We Exist?

Everything we do, we believe in inspiring unlimited potential and greatness in everyone. We believe in a better world, attainable through better leaders.

Every person has the ability and power to be a leader. A leader is defined by his or her actions and not a title.

Only by guiding people and helping them become aware of their inner leader will we make the world a better place!

How We Do What We Do

We help create a better world by encouraging the development and expression of personal and social leadership among as many people as possible, from all walks of life.

By creating a network of potential leaders, educating and supporting them, and providing them with the tools and environment to positively change the world they live in, our dream, the human dream, is only at an arm’s length away.

What We Do

The I.S.E.L. is a network of leaders, empowered individual. By bringing our members together in a structured network, we help develop, support and create solid actions.

Members have the oppurtunity to participate in the member FORUM of their city once every 2 months, be part of a mastermind team and have access to special events and an online private community.

The Story

The I.S.E.L. leadership network is the brainchild of Nikolaï Ray. Having always dreamed of helping make the world a better place, this ex professional athlete and entrepreneur decided to create a network of leaders intent on not only becoming better people but also on positively affecting their environment and the people around them.

Being audacious and inspirational is a way of life for Nikolaï. He believes that we are in the age of self-empowerement and that citizens of all countries have the most power and influence then ever before. By helping people develop their inner leadership and social leadership, he truly believes we can sculpt a better worlld.

Nikolaï’s idea of a better world is one where poverty, famine, pollution and preventable disease are but relics of our anthropocentric and materialistic way of living that characterized the planet in the 20th century.

I remember your wedding day that look in your eye

Called you Mom for the first time and you started to cry

You loved me already and I didnt know why

You still do to this day, even though I got high

You offered me help time and time again

I said yes this time, Im ready for the end

Your already a great Mom, thanks for being my friend

We went to the beach and sat in the sand

Didnt say much, just chilled and held my hand

Watching the waves I felt rich, just won eight-hundred grand

You offer me freedom, a second chance at life

Gonna give you some grandkids, gonna find me a wife

My minds feeling sharp like the edge of a knife

Recharging my batteries, gonna jump start my life

Blasting back into life like a shot from a gun

Im positive if I stick to it, my life can be fun

Ready or not, here comes your pain in the ass son

Gonna use my degree, want to be someone special

Land my dream job, time to realize my potential

I know that this roads not gonna be easy

Like a Miami Hurricane things might get a little breezy

There might be some times you wanna shake me and squeeze me

I just gotta remember one thing, Take it Easy

I thank you again for giving me this chance

On my wedding day I promise you a dance

Whenever you want, the song of your choice

Ill be thankful and greatful, together we can rejoice

By Dan Hilbert

Wake up around noon already feeling like shit
Told myself last night that’s a wrap this is it
Did the last one, promised myself I would quit
Then the thought starts to creep, well maybe just a little bit
Fight it for a while, eat some lunch drink some coffee
Distract myself with TV but my mind isnt free
I wish the demon inside would just let me be
Havent made any calls yet but lets wait and see

Sitting on the couch right around two o’clock
Chilling channel surfing then all of the sudden, knock knock
Tommy stops by to chill, he was just down the block
Now my wheels are really spinning, man what a cock
Nah man I cant, I have enough money for none
Come on make the call dude ill throw you more than one
I don’t have much cash but see if I can trade him my gun
Just pick up the phone, you know well have fun
Alright wheres my phone, lemme see, ill make the call
This is just the beginning of my daily downfall
Alright sweet were good lets go meet him by the mall
He said go around back by the Mens Big and Tall

Well now it’s a wrap, decisions already been made
If we give him this gun, I wonder how many he’ll trade
Here comes the chills, creepy crawlies, feeling wont fade
Feeling like someone turned up the Heat, Dwayne Wade
Get a call from my babe, she stole thirty bucks
Damn only enough for two that really sucks
Stop by her work to go pick up the loot
Shes all pissed off, ready to give me the boot
Head back down the road to meet up with Roy
Its weird, when I got cash is the only time hes my boy
Im playing this game like a little kid with his toy
But unlike a little kid, theres no hope theres no joy

OK turn in here then bare to the right
Hes probably in the same spot he was in the other night
Yea there he is I already see his ride
Parked all out in the open like theres nothing to hide
He sees us pulling up, hops right out the truck
Damn look at his waist, hes strapped too just our luck
If hes got a full bottle this dudes about to get stuck
Ill pull the trigger first, I really don’t give a fuck
Roy motions for me to walk around back towards the bed
Pulls the heat first and points it straight at my head
Looks me right in my eye and this is what he said
Wassup you little bitch are you ready to taste lead?
My mind starts to race, I don’t wanna be dead

Nah man just chill, relax, drop the piece
I gotta be an uncle for my newborn niece
Even more than that I want my own kid
Come on bro, this aint right, im trying to live
He looks down for a second like hes starting to think
Made the decision quick before he could even blink
Took a step to the left, with my right hand grabbed the nine
Whos in control now bitch, empty your pocket that shits mine
Tommy hops out the ride, now hes standing on the other side
Don’t pull no shit Roy cuz its about to get live
Take it out your pocket, gimme the whole bottle
Hopped back in the car and hit it full throttle

Thought the danger was over, I was in the clear
Only now would I know what its truly like to feel fear
Felt Tommy press the gun directly to my left ear
Take that bottle out your pocket now, give it here
Whats this all about man, I thought we were in this together
He replied- me and you in cahoots, yea that’ll be never
It is what it is bro, don’t make it a big thing
Don’t wanna attend your funeral, think of the drama that would bring
Parents and friends crying, someone trying to sing

Reached in my pocket like I was handing over the stash
Just chill out man, throw the gun up on the dash
The next sequence of events like a scene straight outta MASH
Thought it would be a good idea to make the car crash

Lights, sirens, mayhem, now Tommys life is over
None of this woulda happened if I was living life sober
Its all I can think about, sitting behind bars
Living the rest of my life, facing a murder charge

By Dan Hilbert

Woke up this morning and opened my eyes

Looked in the mirror to quite a surprise

Standing in the bathroom and who did I see

That smart, handsome, warm hearted dude, it was me

For the first time in many years, Danny is back

No more snorting pills, no more smoking crack

This chronic behavior, that shit is so wack

Been a long struggle, a ten year panic attack

Surrounding myself with the proper tools to succeed

The right people, places, and things are all that I need

Im out of control and its perfectly clear

Stop smoking weed, dont pick up a beer

Prove it to yourself, at least give it a year

Success seems so far, its actually quite near

Go outside at night and talk to the moon

Take your shirt off, feel the sun at high noon

Breathe, meditate, think, put on a tune

Everything that happens is part of Gods plan

At the end of the day, Dan is his own man

So what should it be, coach scout or GM?

You know what throughout this life I can be all of them

For my life to be perfect, I dont have to be rich

For someone to get caught, no one has to snitch

For God sees all, thru him all things can be done

Four years from now, im finna be someone

Wildest dreams will come true, someway, somehow

No more self destruction, achieve, the time is now

Ran in enough circles, wasted enough time off the clock

Like a sprinter lining up getting down on the block

As soon as the dude pulls the trigger of that gun

Gonna shoot outta here, gonna have some good clean fun

Sprint towards the endzone like an Indy Colt

Might as well call me the white Usain Bolt

Eyes on the prize stay humble stay focused

Attack this disease like a swarm of angry locusts

I can be the only one to cause my downfall

Hold up strong to this demon, chest out, stand tall

Gonna be a slam dunk, alley oop pass from Chris Paul

Before bed at night drop down to my knees

Loudly proclaim- ‘God help me fight this disease’

As long as I ask I know that he will

Im the happy drug, surely dont need a damn pill

Might be a difficult time to the top of this hill

But man when I get there can only imagine the thrill

Adios Damien, no more life of pain

Dont need an umbrella, gonna dance in the rain

By Dan Hilbert

We admitted we were powerless over our addiction

Powerless, yea had my ass beat into submission

UFC bad boy style, wearing a shirt that said Affliction

Barely even left me with a single pot to piss in

Ruthless, relentless, powerful and with a vengeance

Up to no good, only terrible intentions

Its ok though, time to humble up, acceptance

Never forget, but move on, no need for repentance

Used to chill in Hell everyday, now feeling the warmth of Heaven

Felt like there was an assassin on my tail, Lucky Number Sleven

In every way our lives had become unmanageable

Lost everything, not just all the things that were tangible

Car, job, money, even Moms gold

Anything at all that could be bartered traded and sold

Woke up one morning, decided to fight back

Sick and tired of being sick and tired, constantly under attack

Time to get rid of those feelings, heartless, loveless

If that shit was Mike Tyson, call me Buster Douglass

Dropped it to the mat, tenth round TKO

Cant believe whats unfolding, live from Tokyo

If you keep doing what your doing, you end up with what you got

Stayed locked inside my home, drinking, smoking pot

Wound up way to tight, tied up in a ruthless knot

Excited about the future, bought my ticket to the dance

By Gods blessing, been given a second chance

By Dan Hilbert

Been asked to come aboard by the Dictator of Diction

Spittin real talk this is fact not fiction

Not quite sure what my purpose is, acting like a man on a mission

Striving to achieve now, not just hoping and a wishin

Dictators of Diction representing from Detroit

You hear that Em? Lets get it now boy

Collab on a song about surviving, up and rising

Good shits on the way just over the horizon

A lot of todays rappers, they think that they’re ballin

In reality just trippin, like DMX they slippin they fallin

A car that wont start, filled up with poison, engine straight stallin

Fall to your knees, baby style, start crawlin

Open up your ears, listen to Shadys discovery

The message is clear, life is good in recovery !

Used to wish death upon myself, props to 50 Cent, Many Men

When I pick up today, get diarrhea of the pen

I don’t have to go back to that life ever again

Now Im searching for change, a dime, perfect ten

Not necessarily lookin like a chick from the Playboy books

No matter how fine, she only gets a 7 for her looks

Bump it up to a solid 8 in the kitchen if she cooks

9 if she knows the board, playing chess moving rooks

Up to a 10 if it feels like magic when I kiss her

If that’s the case, like Michelle says, Im in big trouble mister

Want a Full House, double trouble, baby brother and sister

Gonna chill though, throw all that on the back burner

No longer flying around, dirty bird, Michael Turner

Calmed it down quite a bit, not hunting anymore

Trying to be prepared for whatever life has in store

For me, let it be, whats next we will see

Tired of being on the sideline, A-Pete busted knee

Lucky to be at a place where I can chill, live free

Used to run around obsessed, causing my own stress

Today Im truly blessed, inside no longer a mess

Expanding my vocabulary filling my book with words like Webster

Killing it with these rhymes, homicide, call me Dexter

Shooting for the Hall of Fame like Magic, showtime, L A Laker

The match is over, tombstone piledriver, Undertaker

The last line is coming up so shut up and listen

Serenity is possible to achieve thru addiction
