By Kevin Alan Lamb

A Good Sign for someone who hasn’t see one in some time. A Good Sign for eyes that have been filled with tears
A Good Sign for a heart grown weary with the years
Kind eyes for a soul that has searched for reciprocity in them
Gentle touch for those willing to reveal their blush
Honest words for those too often subject to relative truth
Inspiration to invigorate joy forgotten since youth
A reminder of dreams forgotten
An assurance no soul condemned to be rotten
Hope in a simpler and better way
Help for which you simply have to ask for, not pray
A friend when all else have seemed to stray
A smile when your immediate company employs perpetual frown
A reason to get up when all you want to do is stay down
Good Signs help me connect with the soul of another
These days I say I love you more, ‘how can I help you brother?’
Family not by blood, but in love
Likened by the desire to help set free from the burden of doubt and misery
Love will mean different things to you and me
But surely any man can see the benefit of a world more happy and friendly
Forgive your enemy and unshackle yourself of their poisoned well
Lift others and experience flight in return
Learn from your shortcomings and accept responsibility in both failures and success
Don’t be so certain your sensitivity is a weakness and a negative product of the delicate organ within your chest
Live by example and be careful not to trample on the dreams of those you love
When hope runs dry look to those who have always stood by you, before a symbolic kingdom in the clouds above

By Kevin Alan Lamb

By Kevin Alan Lamb

We close ourselves from the world when we need to be open
I put these words on paper to be sung by those still hoping
For better days and a better way with men and women that say what they mean and mean what the say

It can’t be so hard sing it with me one time
H – o – p – e, for all boys and girls to be born free
H – e – l – p, from blessed people like you and me
C – a – r – e, for depressed souls given the chance to decide what to be

To open your heart you must first open your eyes
One man’s fortune and blue skies do so little for the man damned in thunderstorms who cries
Vision comes with a price
It’s hard to want to save the world and always play nice

It can’t be so hard sing it with me one time
L – o – v – e, for all the boys and girls that never knew it
T – i – m – e, from blessed people to help them get through it
C – a – r – e, for the less fortunate and our commitment to them.

We close ourselves from the world when we need to be open
I put these words on paper to be sung by those still hoping
For better days and a better way with men and women that say what they mean and mean what the say

It can’t be so hard to change the way people think and feel
Most of us don’t know real problems – too busy confusing fiction for what is real

Why is it so hard? Sing it with me one time
H – o – p – e, for all boys and girls to be born free
H – e – l – p, from blessed people like you and me
C – a – r – e, for depressed souls given the chance to one-day decide what to be.

By Kevin Alan Lamb

He didn’t know love until he tasted it
Good thing it didn’t find him then because he would have wasted it
Too busy chasing dreams in the place of it

Climbing mountains until he learned to fly
They told him he couldn’t change the world but he slept better knowing he wouldn’t have to tell his kids he didn’t try

Nothing worth anything happens overnight
When they tell the tale of good vs evil there will only be two sides to the fight
With one foot in and one foot back, you might of well as stayed lying on the tracks

He was given the gift of life to tell a story of a train bound for glory
He was given a Good Sign as a device for those Bob Dylan spoke to when he said “don’t think twice”

He didn’t know love until he tasted it
It’s a good thing it didn’t find him because he would have wasted it
When his kids ask how he changed the world he’ll tell them it was because he was busy chasing dreams in the place of it.

Don't think twice

–My songwriting ability is improving… I wrote this driving back from my best friend’s wedding in Pittsburgh this weekend.

By Kevin Alan Lamb

By Kevin Alan Lamb

Get busy livin
Get busy lovin
Shake your ass and move your feet cuz good times are comin!

We all have worries
We all have doubts
There is immense light within us
And it’s time we let it out

Been fighting the good fight now
Twenty eight years strong
Been working on finding my voice
Hiding my love away in songs

I’m a positive person some people say
Was it a choice or did God make me this way?
I write these words with tears in my eyes
Heading west on the freeway

Heading home to a place that won’t be much longer
Optimistic for what’s to come
The road ahead to make me stronger
And the Hunger in my heart to carry me farther

Some people hoard wishes
Others stockpile debts
I sweat my way to autonomy
Lived for more than sex

Busy chasing dreams
I was laughed at for having
A choice and commitment to build an army
That will never harm me

Sure I have scars
Probably more than most
But I find a way to carry on
Not busy chasing ghosts.

Won’t you come on darling
It’s time you come down darling
Plenty of good reasons for you to come on and come down darling

Come down to the beach and play with me
Come on darling, come dance, play and be free
Silly darling, can’t you see this is where you wish to be?

Let us plant like trees in the sea my darling
Let us grow old together washed in waves my darling
Let us hurt no more my darling

The water is warm my darling
The sun loves to dance on your skin my darling
Won’t you be my darling?

By Kevin Alan Lamb

We need each other

And we always have

Yet our wants have replaced our needs and dissolved the difference between the two

We are tremendous when working cohesively as a people

Capable of the most extraordinary, breathtaking and awe-inspiring actions

It’s time we as a people transform positive internal movement into traction

Let us celebrate the gifts we have been given without steppin’ on another man’s way of livin’

If his livin’ doesn’t hurt me you or me, what qualms do you have with his livin’ free?

Perhaps you need to ask yourself a difficult question or two

Has your once fervent, glowing joy turned to a hue of blue?

Does your soul hunger for passion and purpose — a cleansing of the worthless?

Are you weighed down by burdens carried at your side?

Perhaps it is time you bury your burdens in the ground

Pound-by-pound they will prevent you from taking flight

Leaders are fueled by vision independent of 20/20 sight

How long has it been since you felt the world inside your arms?

Are you broken or lifted by the love void or running wild in your veins?

Are you frequent to count your blessings or do you shower yourself in your suffering pain?

We must free ourselves if we hope to ever grow

With growth there are no bounds to the heights we can know

Such great heights shared by stargazers and servants of their imagination

Our dreams can be ours if we commit, collaborate, and practice patience

Limits were constructed to teach us how much more there is in us!

Sirens sing to sell our souls on notions based on dissonance and doubt that could fill endless oceans

But our fate is not left to the whispers and conjures of witches and their magic potions

Magic lies in our heart and souls if and when we believe in it enough to see it

Phenomena, wonder and love are inevitable once we decide what to be and go be it!

There is immense illumination and light inside of you if and only when you trust yourself to free it!

Movement of the Heart & Soul, Part 1

I always find my way back to my words

Life flies a million miles an hour but we musn’t lose priority for why it is we were given life at all

This is what I’m best at

Some write for the sake of writing

Others to sell books

I write to create, share, and inspire positive change

I am making progress

We are making progress

I accept that it is a fight that will consume my lifetime

Give purpose to my lifetime

Continue long after my lifetime

The truth is — I’m still figuring myself out

What it is I want out of this life of mine

While it’s not certain I assure you it is grand

I am filled with silly, irrational, and capable dreams

How long has it been since you measured yourself against your own?

Do you remember what makes you happy?

When they speak of you what do you think they will cite as your greatest talent?

What do you wish they cited as your greatest talent?

What is your greatest talent?

What is yours that cannot be taken away?

Are you as free as you’d like to be?

Productive as you’d like to be?

I assure you, you’re capable

But what I cannot make any assurance of is your willingness to be

This is your life

It is your single chance to be everything that you have always wished to be

Why would you let anything stand in the way of that?

You have the rest of your life to follow through on your commitments…

I recommend starting now.

Passenger – Let Her Go [Official Video]

Passenger, was a British alternative pop/rock/folk band that was established in 2003 inarjanwrites_2008_passenger Brighton and Hove in England. It was fronted by vocalist Mike Rosenberg who was the main vocalist and songwriter of the band and by Andrew Phillips. Both were from Brighton. The band was at various times a quartet and a quintet.

The debut album Wicked Man’s Rest was released in 2007 on Chalkmark. All 11 tracks of the album were co-written by Andrew Phillips and Mike Rosenberg. Soon after the release of the album, the band broke up when Andrew Phillips left the formation in 2009.

“Let Her Go”

Well you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her goOnly know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her goStaring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you’ll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fast

You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you’ll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies

But you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home
Only know you love her when you let her go

Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
‘Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast

Well you see her when you fall asleep
But never to touch and never to keep
‘Cause you loved her too much
And you dived too deep

Well you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home
Only know you love her when you let her go

And you let her go
And you let her go
Well you let her go

‘Cause you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home
Only know you love her when you let her go

‘Cause you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home
Only know you love her when you let her go

And you let her go

To be happy, an excerpt from “Just Living On Caffeine, Dreams and Love”

To be happy I must choose to be happy. To choose to be happy I must choose to participate in the things I love. To participate in the things I love I must discover what it is that I love. To discover what it is that I love I must ask myself what it is that I am passionate for. To discover my passion I must live my life, do, and not say. To live my life I must accept both happiness and sadness, love and pain. To accept these things I must accept myself and balance the ongoing relationship between free will and fate. Acceptance comes once I take ownership of both my success and misfortune.

An excerpt from “Just Living on Caffeine, Dreams and Love“ — a work in progress. #CaffeineDreamsLove

“We worry for the ones we love because we feel them inside the world around us. They are in every smile, laugh, hug, and tear. Whether we are consciously aware of it or not, there is no running from the ones we love, our obligations and connections with them, and a lifetime of memories that do not construct who we are, rather, have been constructed as a result of who we are, and strive to be. Memories can haunt us, but that is only because we know how often they carry us– through difficult times, through our loneliness, through the doubt that we may deny from being there at all. Doubt is written in our genetic code. It is planted like a seed from the moment we talk, talk, rise and fall. Do not be defeated when you bleed; we bleed because we are human; because we can heal; and because we sometimes need it. We get what we need, when we need it, and we bleed because we’re human, don’t be defeated. Everyone doubts, perhaps not around every corner; and while they will not wear it like a suit; it is there, it is with them. Doubt in us is the world challenging us to be the person we believe we can be, and are. It requires a stand; a physical and emotional response; an awareness that we must not remain static; or we will be defeated. Evolve or fade away: Be better in every way, shape, and form. We become better, not as a result of wanting to be better, but by being itself! Start small and grow!”
